One-on-One Reading is an individual one hour tutoring session which meets a minimum of two days a week with a teacher using the Orton-Gillingham method and other phonics-based reading techniques. Our approach is to design unique reading lessons which will reinforce student strengths while developing new skills to overcome their reading challenges.

Good Better Best
Never let it rest.
Until the good becomes
The Better, and
The Better Becomes the Best!

Anna Gillingham and a group of master teachers, along with Dr. Samuel Orton, developed the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Method in the early 1930s. It was a new way of teaching the phonemic structure of the written language to dyslexic students. Dr. Orton and Anna Gillingham found that students learned best when all of their senses were involved: visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. These same methods work for all readers and learners, at any level or age.

Students learning to read must learn the rules of language including syllable types, syllable divisions, and proper vowel and consonant sounds. Unsuccessful readers have excelled by learning the Orton-Gillingham method of multisensory learning. One-on-one tutoring sessions allow for personalized instruction in both written and oral language expression.
