My name is Jennifer Gordus, founder of ABCs of Phonics. I graduated from Indiana University with an Early Childhood degree and the intention of one day opening a reading center that would stress early intervention. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in high school and my delayed diagnosis caused a long journey learning to read.

I recently read my first grade report card and it said "We are passing her to second grade even though she doesn’t read." Why did they pass me? Why didn’t they offer solutions? All through school I felt like there was something wrong with me; I was different from the rest of my class. Everyone knew the answers when I was still asking questions. My biggest fear was standing in front of my peers and reading out loud. I was frustrated and felt inadequate.

I wish there had been a program that I could have turned to for help, a reading program that allowed me to feel confident and successful. Now I am determined to empower children by providing positive educational opportunities and experiences. I am dedicated to helping preschool and early elementary students achieve reading success to ensure a positive educational experience.

No child deserves to suffer because he or she can’t read!
